Refund Policy
What is refundable, what is not, and why a bond premium works this way.
The premium is not refundable
A bail bond premium is the fee paid for the surety to assume the risk of the bond. It is earned in full at the moment the bond is posted. It is not a deposit and it is not held on your behalf.
The premium is not refunded if the charges are dropped, if the case is dismissed, if the defendant is found not guilty, if the defendant is released early, or if the bond is later exonerated by the court. A refund is not triggered by the outcome of the case.
Charges are earned, not held
Once a bond is posted, the surety has taken on a liability to the court equal to the full face amount of the bond. That liability exists for as long as the bond is in force. The premium compensates that risk from the moment it begins.
Network fees are not refundable
Blockchain transaction fees are paid by the sender to the network, not to this business, and are not controlled by this business. Once a transaction is broadcast it cannot be recalled, and its network fee cannot be refunded by anyone.
Overpayments and duplicate payments
If you send more than the invoiced amount, or send a second payment for the same invoice, contact this office with the invoice number and the transaction ID. An overpayment above the amount due is returned to a verified address you control, less any network fee, once the payment is confirmed and reconciled. The premium itself is earned in full when the bond is posted and is not refundable; any other refund is at the business's sole discretion.
Refunds this office may make
Where this business elects to make a refund, or where a refund is required, it is made only in cryptocurrency, only to a verified return address that you control, and only after the original payment has fully confirmed on-chain. Refunds are not made in cash, by card, by check, or by bank transfer.
Collateral is not a premium
Collateral is held as security under a separate receipt. It is not a premium payment and is not spent. Its return is governed by that receipt and by applicable Texas law, not by this policy.
Bond discharged and nothing owed
When the court discharges the bond and all obligations under the agreement have been satisfied, any collateral held is returned under the terms of the collateral receipt. The premium is still not refunded.
Read together, these are the whole agreement
Each of these pages governs a different part of the relationship. Nobody reads them for fun; they are here so that nothing important lives only in a phone call.
